100 “Musts” in 1,343 Days

I have exactly 1,343 days (or 32,243 hours) to scratch out everything on, what was once, the list in my head. This “list” that I speak of, started in 2007, as a motivation for me to “seize the moment” and go after the things I really wanted to do. It started in my head, then I started writing them down in a notebook, then… it turned into a word document. I attempted writing them on these crazy cute note cards that were given to me as a gift, but the geek in me wanted to keep it digital.

So, after I finished my half-marathon (#31), I decided to create a wiki with my list - so that I could share it with others, and encourage others to make a list. Apparently, creating a “life list” is not only therapeutic, but it contributes to your mental and spiritual health. I must admit, I didn’t set out to improve my mental stability when I created my list… rather, I wanted to organize my thoughts. There is magic in writing things down. You are telling yourself that this, what I’m writing down, is what matters. This is what you think. This is what you love.

Presumably, one of the secrets of creating a Life List is that as each item gets checked off, you add a new one. You’re never done. And isn’t that true, List or no List? We see new things we’d like to do, hear about new places to go, and realize, somehow, we’d be better off knowing how to change a tire, how to fence, how to make a Himalayan moon pie or how to do an Australian Blue Bird call.

So do it, make a list, and make it good….
